Smarter than any single source of truth.
Your tools on set and in post plug in. Origami works out who to trust for every detail, and everyone gets the same answer.
Book a demoMetadata router
Everyone plugs in. Everyone gets the same answer.
Today a shot’s details are copied from desk to desk, and lose a little at every hand-off. Plug every source into Origami, and everyone downstream reads the same details.
- Today
- Set, dailies, editorial, the VFX pull: at every hand-off a detail falls away or is retyped wrong. The vendor gets half a card.
- Plugged in
- With Origami, every source plugs into its own port and sends what it knows, in its own format.
- One answer out
- One answer goes back out, the same for everyone: the asset library, deliveries, your AI app and the API.
Normalise
Five spellings. One field.
Different tools, different people, different spellings. Origami compares them all, works out which to trust, and keeps one clean answer.
- Five spellings
- The same camera roll arrives under five different column names.
- One field
- Origami reads all five as one field, Camera roll. The same goes for over 200 fields, in 11 groups.
- Nothing dropped
- A column nobody recognises is kept, under Other metadata, never thrown away.
Who to trust, field by field
Every field has an owner.
Each detail comes from the source that knows it best, and you choose who owns what for each project.
- They disagree
- The camera, the script supervisor, Pomfort ShotHub and an ALE all describe the same shot, and they do not all agree.
- The owner wins
- Each kind of detail has an owner: the camera for the lens and its settings, ScriptE for the slate and takes. Its value is in use, and every other one is kept.
- Your call
- A person’s correction beats every source, and a locked field stays put. You choose which source to trust for each kind of detail, per project.
The life of a shot
Down the chain, and back up it.
Everyone on the production adds to the shot as it travels. Every update lands on one record, and the library and every delivery from then on read it.
- Down the chain
- Each stage adds what it knows, and the shot’s record grows as it goes, from the camera to the delivery.
- Back up the chain
- The script supervisor’s note arrives that evening, and the editor’s comment on an ALE from Avid. Both land on the shot’s record, and the next delivery carries the comment.
- After delivery
- Dailies change the look after the shot has gone, so the delivered clip is flagged: Changed since delivery.
Shared fields
Change it once. Everyone downstream has it.
The same details arrive from several tools. Change one in Origami, and the library, the next delivery and the API all have the new value.
- One value each
- Pomfort ShotHub, ScriptE and an ALE carry the same details. Origami keeps one value for each, and the library, the next delivery and the API read it.
- Someone changes it
- In Origami, the producer marks the take a trailer pick and rates it higher. A person’s change beats every source, so it becomes the value in use.
- Downstream has it
- The change is already in the asset library, and the next delivery and the API have it too. What each tool logged is still kept.
Linked assets
Every copy knows where it came from.
Proxies and pulls stay linked to their camera original, and what matters travels with them: the markers to the proxy, the details to every pull.
- The original
- The camera original, ALEXA 35, with everything known about it.
- Its proxy
- The proxy is paired with its original, and the on-set markers land on it at the same moments.
- Its pulls
- A pull starts with the original’s details, plus the clip list’s CDL, LUT, scene and take, and keeps its own frames and handles.
- A late detail
- A take circled later in Pomfort ShotHub reaches the original, its proxy and its VFX pull.
So every answer can be checked
Every value shows where it came from.
Every field keeps its whole history: what each source said, who or what changed it, and when. The look, the slate and the framing are just three of them.
- Look
- First from the day’s ALE, then Pomfort ShotHub’s newer Livegrade grade, then the dailies colourist’s trim. The delivered clip is marked.
- Slate
- The ALE said take 2, the ScriptE report said 3. ScriptE leads the slate, so 3 is in use, and once it was right it was locked.
- Framing
- A newer OMC file brought a new framing decision, replacing the ALE’s. The delivered clip is marked: its framing changed.
