Built by people who did this work by hand.

Origami was not dreamed up by software developers looking for a market. It was built by people who spent years on the front line of film and television, solving these problems the hard way.

Where it comes from

Fifteen years on the sharp end.

From 2011 our founders ran digital imaging on hundreds of productions, from tiny budgets to some of the biggest projects in the world: feature films, high-end drama, multicamera shows, live events, fashion shows and commercials. We ran the technicians on set, the dailies, the colour pipeline and the deliveries to the VFX vendors, for the major studios and streamers.

We have carried the drives, re-typed the metadata and turned pulls around overnight against a delivery date. Every chapter of this site is a job we once did by hand.

Origami began as our own answer to that work. It is the tool we wished we had, built by the people who needed it.

Elbow grease can only achieve so much. At a certain scale and complexity, it stops being a virtue and starts being a point of failure.
