What is new
Five things that were not possible last September.
All five run in production today. None of them is a roadmap slide, and we would rather prove it on your material than on ours.
One set of media. Every folder structure it needs to be in.
Two vendors, two naming conventions, two nesting orders, one collection. Building it copies nothing and moves nothing.
Stop paying for footage twice.
Without a view into the cloud, teams download everything early and park a copy on-prem just in case, and pay twice: egress, then storage. Media should move when the cut asks for it, not before. Origami catalogues storage where it sits, pulls only the clips the cut names and trims them to the frames in the cut, without a re-encode. The rest never moves.
We’ve put sound centre stage.
We fixate on the picture and leave the sound as a second thought, yet the sound is where the evenings go. So Origami conforms the audio in the same platform as the picture, on its own or alongside it, from the same AAF. The files that belong to one clip are found by the UMID Avid wrote, trimmed to the cut and handed back as one master clip. Eight files in, one clip out.
