Origami Platform has released its most significant updates to date, a set of new capabilities that reach across the full post-production workflow. From media management on set to final delivery and both sound and picture,

Origami has effectively become the operating system for post-production workflows.

“The mission for Origami has always been to take the work out of post production workflows, reducing the friction, admin and metadata archeology that reduces post and VFX teams’ creative bandwidth,” said Mark Purvis, Origami’s CEO.

“With these new features, Origami 2.0 connects fragmented storage, media, metadata and delivery workflows into one controlled operation, without forcing teams to replace their infrastructure or give up control of their media.”

Collections: Organise Once, Deliver to Everyone

The biggest addition is Collections, a new approach to packaging and delivering media that removes the need for manual file reorganisation at every handoff point in the pipeline.

Now you can organise once and deliver for every workflow in the ways different teams need. Create one logical collection of media, then deliver it differently for editorial, VFX, DI, sound or archive, including the relevant colour and supporting data.

Tom Mitchell, Origami CTO, explains, “You no longer need to ‘manage' your media manually the system does it for you. Collections is an industry-first: a post-production platform that moves beyond simple asset viewing. With Origami Collections, you can search across all connected storage simultaneously and deliver custom-structured packages in seconds. One collection, multiple deliveries, and finally, zero manual reorganisation.”

Currently, when files need to go from one part of the production to another, to an editor, a VFX house, a colourist, someone has to physically consolidate them, reorganise them into the folder structure that the recipient expects, and track down all the associated CDLs, LUTs and audio that need to travel with them. Collections replaces that process entirely.

Users can search across all connected storage simultaneously - on-prem, S3, remote locations - select any set of files based on metadata (shoot day, camera, lens, scene, shot), and save them as a virtual collection. Files stay exactly where they are; nothing copies or moves. When it's time to deliver, the platform assembles and sends the package in whatever folder structure each recipient prefers, using saved profiles. The editor gets their media in scene/slate order. The VFX house gets theirs by sequence and shot, with lidar and witness cameras included automatically. One collection, multiple deliveries, zero reorganisation.

Audio Conform: Picture and Sound from One Job

Origami is also launching unified audio and picture conforming, a capability the company says doesn't currently exist anywhere else in the market.

Until now, audio and picture conform have always been separate workflows managed by different tools and different teams. With the new release, a single EDL, AAF, Final Cut Pro XML or OpenTimeIO timeline with both audio and picture can be conformed in one Origami job. UMID-based matching correctly assembles multi-file production audio, where sound mixer recordings span separate files, and delivers them as a unified, properly labelled master clip. Picture goes to the post house; audio goes to the sound facility; both originate from the same operation.

Trimming Expanded Across the Full Codec Landscape

Format support for lossless trimming now covers the complete professional codec range: ProRes (all variants), Avid DNxHD and DNxHR, MXF (OP Atom and Panasonic AVC), Canon RAW, Blackmagic RAW, Phantom/Cine, and production audio in BWF and WAV. All trims are lossless. No re-encoding, no pixel change.

On RAW and ProRes formats, trimming to the actual cut points of a shot rather than delivering a full camera card typically reduces file size by 95–99.9%, with corresponding reductions in egress fees and storage costs. The expanded support also brings full coverage to the codec mix used in documentary, archive and non-scripted production

Enterprise User Management

A rebuilt access control system introduces fine-grained permissions management across every level of a production's structure - organisation, project, team and individual. Remove someone at the organisational level and they lose access to every production simultaneously. Vendor organisations can manage their own team access on a project without the production company administering it for them. Every action is logged with full traceability.

SSO integration covers Microsoft Azure AD, Google Workspace and OIDC identity platforms. For facilities working toward TPN accreditation, the system is built around least-privilege access from the ground up.

AI Agent MCP: turn a meeting or email into a pull request.

Origami has also launched a native MCP integration for all AI agent models, giving users a conversational interface into the platform's metadata. Which shots used a specific lens? Which deliveries are outstanding? What has egress cost this month? Drive workflows with your AI agent and work with Origami, without leaving whatever tool you're already working in. With MCP set to be a major theme at IBC this year, it puts Origami's production data front and centre of AI-assisted workflows.

OMC 3.0 - Already Shipping

As a MovieLabs member, Origami already exports in OMC 3.0 format on every job, ahead of the standard's formal release later this year. Facilities on the platform will meet studio compliance requirements when they arrive, with no changes needed.

All announced features will be demonstrated live at IBC 2026 at the RAI Amsterdam. The team will be exhibiting on the AWS stand in Hall 5 stand C.90 and running live demonstrations throughout the show in the IAMT Hub.
