# Origami > Origami is the operating system for post production. It finds the media across every connected storage, pulls the shots an editorial turnover asks for, packages the delivery in the structure each vendor wants, and sends it on, with the colour and the metadata travelling alongside. Post-production facilities submit an EDL, AAF, XML, OpenTimelineIO or CSV turnover and receive a vendor-ready package: EXRs or trimmed camera originals, auto-named CDLs, project LUTs, an OTIO file, a manifest CSV carrying over 130 metadata fields, per-frame lens data and V-zero proxies. Only the frames in the cut leave the building; the camera negative is never touched. - Trim runs without re-encoding across thirteen camera and editorial formats: Blackmagic RAW, RED R3D, Sony X-OCN and XAVC-I, ARRIRAW, Canon Cinema RAW Light, Phantom .cine, Apple ProRes, Avid DNxHD/HR, Avid Op-Atom, GoPro CineForm, AVC-Intra, and PCM production sound. The delivered clip carries the original essence. - Trimmed ProRes keeps its lens make and model, focal length, aperture atoms and timed metadata tracks, which general-purpose tools discard. - Avid Op-Atom video and audio are trimmed and conformed together, with the UMID re-stamped so Media Composer re-groups them as one master clip. - Collections: build one set of media drawn from every connected storage at once, whatever folder structure each one used, then deliver that same set to each recipient in the structure they asked for, including their naming, capitalisation and spacing. Building a collection copies nothing and moves nothing: it records which files belong to the set, and the bytes move only on delivery. Folder levels can be grouped by any of 33 metadata fields such as shoot date, camera model, scene or episode. Collections are scoped to a project and private to the person who creates them. - Data reduction: a turnover names a fraction of the files that were shot, and each of those files is copied out at the cut rather than whole. The two reductions multiply, so roughly one percent of the data moves and around 99 percent never leaves the storage it was already on. That means less bandwidth, lower cloud egress, and less storage at the far end. How far it goes depends on the turnover. - Governance: access is granted per project and is never inherited from an organisation role. A vendor joins a single project; a seat on one show grants nothing on another. Permissions go down to the action, such as viewing, downloading, editing metadata, submitting a job or seeing usage. Access checks fail closed. - Audio is a first-class citizen: audio conform on its own or alongside video, AAF conform for both, BWF bext and iXML metadata extraction, immersive format detection (Dolby Atmos, Apple Spatial APAC, DTS:X, ADM), and a 43-column audio manifest, fifteen columns of which are built to match the Sound Devices Wave Agent sound report. - Conform (drama) pulls deliver trimmed original camera files; local-to-local conforms never touch the cloud. Note that Conform Pull in Origami means copying original camera files through without rendering, not conforming a cut against VFX returns. - A delivery package can include auto-named CDLs (.cdl, .ccc or .cc), project LUTs, an OpenTimelineIO file, a manifest CSV carrying over 130 metadata fields, per-frame Cooke /i lens data and V-zero proxies. Transfer jobs use a shorter seven-column sheet. - AI agents: Origami exposes an MCP endpoint, so a customer's own AI assistant can search media, build collections, create a production and change its defaults, compose a delivery profile, build a job and submit it, and explain why a job has stopped. It is off until an administrator switches it on, and can be scoped for the whole organisation, one project, one team or one person, with each feature switchable on its own. The assistant can do at most what the person using it can already do. It is never shown media, downloads, file contents, playback links, crew names, email addresses, storage paths or checksums. Anything that changes or sends something stops and asks the person to approve, in Origami, a sentence Origami wrote about that exact request. Origami runs no model and trains nothing on customer material. - MovieLabs OMC-JSON v3.0 export is available, validated with MovieLabs' own omcValidate tool.
